01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

A good place to begin at Nagomi is the obanzai assortment, a selection of small dishes to share and sample together. One diner recalled that each dish had its own dashi broth or seasoning, making it enjoyable to compare the flavours. Another noted that the selection changes with the seasons. It makes a fitting first order, with the pleasure of seeing what is served that day.

The à la carte menu also lists seared Wagyu beef thigh and clams steamed with sake. On another visit, a diner tried beef tataki steak, chawanmushi with pickled plum, and whole tomato soaked in dashi. Seasonal tempura featuring fig also left a strong impression on one guest.

For fish and sushi, there is an assorted sashimi platter, as well as the day’s nigiri assortment of 5 pieces and tekka maki, a tuna roll. A diner who tried the nigiri praised not only its flavour but also its quality and temperature.

Drinks include draft beer and wine by the glass, while sake is available chilled or warmed. There is also a list of regional sake. Pair a few obanzai dishes with local sake, or build a meal around the Wagyu and nigiri. Counter seating is available, and reservations are recommended for dinner.
